Haiti Relief Efforts: Update #1
January 13, 2010 4:30pm: We were able to make contact with Stanley Dumornay an Evangelist in New York City who previously led the church in Port-au-Prince Haiti. At the time of our conversation he had not been able to get through to any of his contacts there in Haiti, but had heard from other sources that the Church Leaders were OK, but that two members had tragically lost their lives. We expressed our desire to provide some immediate relief and we asked for the fastest route to get money in the hands of the disciples in need. As of yesterday there was no means for wiring money but Stanley Dumornay was working on making contact and was hoping to know something by the next day. We scheduled another phone call for the following day.
January 14th, 2010 11:45am – Stanley called this morning to inform us that he was able to get through to the Church leaders in Port-au-Prince as well as the administrator. Although the church building was completely destroyed, the disciples were gathering on the grounds there as most had lost their homes. The administrator was looking for a means for money wires to come through and is going to let us know as soon as they find a way for funds to arrive. In the mean time Stanley Dumornay was wait listed on a Red Cross flight to go into Haiti, and he will keep us posted on his itinerary, hopefully we can send him into the country with something for the disciples there. Unfortunately, all the relief efforts are trying to get into Haiti on one runway and everything is backed up for a long time and we won’t know whether Stanley can get out in the next few days.
