The Impossible Dream (Women Only)

God places a sense of destiny in the hearts of every woman, and only through pursuing his dream do we find the purpose to which God has destined us for.  His Dream is one of an entire world changed, every woman reached, and every soul saved.  This is a seemingly “Impossible Dream” for those distracted by the world, but for those with the courage and daring to believe in God’s Dream, it provides the compelling vision that inspires us to call others to live for it. The world is in need of such daring dreamers and leaders, and in this class you will learn how to develop the faith and courage to become the woman that God destined you to be.

Gail Ewell,

Turning Failure Into Faith

In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.

Ephesians 1:11

It is impossible for anyone to go through life without experiencing failure at some point.  The challenge is not getting stuck allowing our failure to have greater influence on how we live than our faith in the power and Love of God.  Do you hear input through the filter of failure or faith?  Do you resist change or shy away from challenges because you anticipate the pain of failure?  This class will talk about turning failure into faith, allowing us to see God moving through every event in our lives to fulfill the dream he has for each of us.

The Power of Dreams (Forgetting the Past, Building Your Future)

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.

Philippians 3:13

Dreams are powerful.  It is a powerful dream that sustains us during times of hardship and uncertainty.  Nothing stops us more than living in the past and letting it dictate how we live today.  One step to getting and restoring the dream is to forget the past – the failures as well as the successes – and allow God to mold a powerful dream for our lives.  Come and hear about building dreams for the future.

God Has Something Better

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.  “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

Matthew 4:8-9

God’s dream is life changing and revolutionary.  Like Jesus, the choice that teenagers have to make is to “Dare to Dream” or to give in to the world.  The greatest dreams worth pursuing are those that have a lasting impact.  God definitely has something better!  This class is geared for teenagers but is open to all.

Second Chances, Second Acts

Many believe that their first act was their only act.  F. Scott Fitzgerald stated, “There are no second acts in American lives.” However, disciples do not hold this perspective.  We believe that God will use our lives to make a difference in every stage of life.  Maybe your first act was the full time ministry or raising your children.  What’s your second act?  How will God use your first act to prepare you for your next act?

Restoring the Dream

When the Lord brought back the captives to Zion, we were like men who dreamed.  Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.

Psalm 126:1-2

Destiny.  God has one for everyone but too many give before that destiny can be realized.  To restore the dream is to let go of selfish pursuits and to lay claim to kingdom dreams.  It is not about pursuing our individual, undersized dreams, but about restoring the dream, God’s dream.  Recapture your sense of destiny.  Renew your faith.  Reclaim your vision and restore the dream!

Love Speaks The Truth

“Love should always make us tell the truth. Then we will grow in every way and be more like Christ, the head of the body. Christ holds it together and makes all of its parts work perfectly, as it grows and becomes strong because of love.”

Ephesians 4:15

Do you find it difficult to be real, open and honest with others? Then free yourself, and be yourself!  There is a popular misconception that "keeping the peace" in relationships requires hiding our feelings and needs, or suppressing the truth to avoid conflict at all costs. However, this kind of  “love” always fails, because of the distance, frustration and disillusionment it brings. Jesus spoke the truth in love to drive out insecurity and welcome intimacy. In this class, we will learn to overcome our fears by developing the courage to speak the truth in love and build friendships that inspire us to dream!

Whenever I Call You Friend

If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?  Are not even the tax collectors doing that?  And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others?  Do not even pagans do that?  Be perfect, therefore as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Matthew 5:46-48

How do you define and base your friendships?  Mutual interest?  Similar personality?  Shared experience?  Biblical friendships in the Bible go so much deeper than many of our friendship definitions.  Spiritual, faithful, fun, persevering, challenging and caring are some of the qualities of biblical friendships.  Come to this class and redefine what true friendships are.

Rebuilding:

Love Overcomes Loss

"You poor city.  Storms have hurt you, and you have not been comforted.  But I will rebuild you with turquoise stones, and I will rebuild your foundations with sapphires.  I will use rubies to build your walls and shining jewels for the gates and precious jewels for all your outer walls."

Isaiah 54:11-12 (NCV)

Have your hopes and dreams been torn down because of the difficulties, hardships and losses of life?  These life experiences don't have to define the rest of your life.  Instead, God's word teaches us that it is possible to overcome!  By persevering in your relationship with God and turning to others for help, you can rebuild and dream in even greater ways.

The Power of Forgiveness

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Colossians 3:13

The first step in rebuilding relationships is learning how to forgive.  We can get stuck in our relationships because we don’t know how to deeply forgive.  This class is designed to help us work though our feelings and hurts by focusing on how Jesus forgave and the power that comes from being like Jesus.

Discipleship Is Relationship

I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

John 15:15b

What good is a dream if one dreams alone?  Relationships provide meaning to our dreams.  Jesus’ dream is for each of us to have spiritual friendships.  For too many, our definition of discipleship is not based on the Bible but from our past relationships, family background, marriage dynamic and other experiences.  Shed your misconceptions and redefine discipleship as relationship.

Heroes: You Can Inspire Your Kids to Become Christians

Save your kids, save the world!  Parents are the true heroes in helping their kids become Christians.  No one else has as much influence over your kids as you do. This class will give you a different perspective on inspiring your kids.  How do I inspire my kid to read their Bible? How can I inspire my kid to be honest with me? How can I inspire my kid to love God?  These questions and more will be addressed by our collection of teen disciples and Y-Leaders on what they have learned in helping teens become Christians.

Love Brings Light Into Darkness

One of life's greatest fears is being known for who we really are.  We fear that if our real thoughts, our past, our sins and weaknesses are known then we will be rejected.  Knowing God's irresistible and unfailing love is the only thing strong enough to pull us out of the darkness and into the light and to develop close relationships with others.  If we are going to help each other come into the light, we must also help each other experience and exercise God's love.

Dare To Be Different

Have you ever found yourself conforming to the world around you rather than standing out and making a difference?  In high school, it is easy to get wrapped up with pleasing people, fitting in, hanging with the wrong crowd and settling to be just like everyone else.  This class will teach you how to break these patterns by daring to be different and following Jesus’ example to impact those around you.

Turning Anger From Foe To Friend

Bitterness and resentment is one of the most common problems among Christians today, especially as we get older.  Is anger harmful or helpful?  What does it mean and where does it come from?  How can we handle our emotions and get the courage to move from anger to forgiveness?  This session will inspire us to explore our anger and learn how to turn those who were once our foes into our friends.
