Steva Cadena
He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
Ephesians 4:16
Big dreams became an inspiring reality on Sunday as nearly 3000 people gathered at Shoreline Amphitheater for the BACC worship service! Vision and dreams filled this year’s service from beginning to end – from magical movie characters who greeted children as they entered the front gates to inspiration from the Bible about God’s dreams for the us and the world around us. And of course, friends, food and fun made Shoreline an unforgettable experience for all who came.
Music mixed with personal stories from teens, college students and young professionals painted an amazing picture of the kinds of dreams God has for us. Teen and middle school students in the BACC “Y-choir” kicked off a series of incredible musical performances with the song “I believe,” and Brian and Rosalind Nitta inspired all the college students by sharing that they learned while going to school at San Jose State and Stanford. They shared that God’s dream to make a difference in the lives of others was better than any other dream they had for themselves.
It was amazing to hear Cassi Hoyt and David Motamed, recent high school graduates who became Christians in our Y-ministry, express their gratitude to everyone who had vision for them four years ago when they started high school. Along the way they both helped other teens become Christians and they shared their vision for the great things God will do in their lives as college students!
We also witnessed the ultimate dream come true as Steva Cadena, a man from Contra Costa, was baptized and added to God’s Kingdom! Afterwards a powerful lesson from the scriptures about “Working on a Dream” encouraged everyone to revive and remember their dreams. Then 28 high school and college students were introduced on stage as student interns working over the summer to help build God’s dream. It is amazing to watch God raise up a new generation of leaders.
Jeff Cohen, Luis Lopez, Alexis Johnson and all the performers did a phenomenal close out rendition of Bruce Springsteen’s’ “Working on a Dream” and got everyone’s blood pumping for the picnics, jump castles, and great memories that finished off the day. We want to thank everyone for joining us while we are “working on a dream”!
